The challenge

Build an always-on agent that trades without human intervention, recovers from failures on its own, and never risks more capital than its rules allow.

Mid-project, a state-level licensing restriction blocked crypto trading on the original brokerage platform. The system had to move to a new exchange without losing the validated behavior.

The approach

Validate before risking capital

The first version ran against a paper-trading environment with the same API surface as live, so logic could be exercised end-to-end at zero financial risk before a dollar was committed.

Rebuild for production

The prototype was ported from Python to Go for a single static binary, low memory footprint, and simpler operations on a small cloud host.

Supply-chain discipline

Dependencies were limited to officially maintained SDKs only; no community wrappers sitting between the agent and the exchange.

Deterministic integration

All exchange interaction goes through the REST API rather than streaming sockets, giving the agent a simple, auditable request/response loop that is easy to log, retry, and reason about.

Results

  • Running 24/7 in production with live capital
  • Migrated platforms and languages without redesigning the system around a new vendor
  • Minimal dependency surface: official SDK plus the Go standard library

Strategy logic, parameters, and source code are intentionally withheld. This case study covers architecture and engineering practice only.
